Chelsea boss targets Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte remains on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.

The Italian brought both David Luiz and Marcos Alonso to Stamford Bridge during the summer, but still wants to sign at least one central defender in January.

And according to reports  , he has set his sights on Middlesbrough’s Gibson.

The report claims Conte will send scouts to watch the defender take on Arsenal this Saturday at the Emirates (3pm).

This will provide the Blues with a perfect opportunity to see how Gibson deals with the best as he will come up against the in form trio of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott.

Gibson has impressed for Boro this season following their promotion from the Championship.

He has played in every minute of the campaign so far and is apparently under consideration for his first England call-up for the friendly with Spain next month.
